A progressive Christian, liberal Democrat in KS, and a Mac user - I don't follow the crowd... Highly recommend Marcus Borg's writing, Cassandra Wilson's singing, and www.soulforce.org

When Clinton was attacked...

I remember watching Clinton (Bill) campaign in 91 and take office in 1992.

I remember believing in the man who "still believed in a place called Hope."  Who did things like "drop by" the convention to say thank you...

I remember how the right wing attacked him, and his first lady, when they tried to repair health care, when they tried to protect us from some guy named Bin Laden, when they tried to govern from the center. Not even the left, despite the frantic cries of Newt and his band...

It was vicious.  Mud thrown, accusations of murder by Scaife....  vile innuendo, outrageous claims,  investigations launched, the Ken Starr Whitewater witchhunt which eventually found an angle. A stain that wouldn't wash out.  Bill had done something incredibly stupid and he'd been caught in a lie.

Democrats, with the exception of Lieberman, rallied around.  We didn't excuse the behavior - but we figured that was for Hillary to deal with within their marriage. We saw dirty self-serving politics for what it was. We knew the impeachment was a political show, a raw power.  We stood by Bill.

Ohio Lawsuit - Conyers says Kerry/Edwards pulling out?

This diary is an email I received today from Progressive Democrats of America .  PDA formed largely from groups who came together around the Kucinich and Dean campaigns and has launched a number of initiatives - including a key role in Ohio. I encourage you to let Kerry / Edwards know what your thoughts are via the link in the extended text.

Dear Friends,
We have learned that the Kerry/Edwards campaign is preparing to withdraw from the Ohio recount case, which is pending in federal court. This move comes as Federal Judge Carr in Toledo prepares to hold a status conference on August 30 on this case, along with two other pending voting rights cases.

(more, including letter from Conyers, after the jump)

HATE AMENDMENT - Vote is Today

The House of Representatives will vote today on their Marriage Protection Amendment.

It's important that we contact our representatives and tell them to vote NO.  The vote may be as soon as 4pm Eastern.

there is a suprisingly long list of Representatives who are undeced - who do you know in their districts?  Take a few minutes and get your friends and family to make a quick call or drop an email.

Information from Human Resource Council on how to easily contact the Representatives is in extended entry.

Let's stop Hate in it's tracks!
